Report: Blue Jays offered contract to Romo

The Toronto Blue Jays offered a contract to free-agent reliever Sergio Romo, sources told Jon Morosi of MLB Network.

The Texas Rangers and Minnesota Twins are also interested in the 11-year veteran, with both looking at a minor-league deal for Romo, Morosi adds.

It was first reported last week that the Jays were interested in the 35-year-old.

Romo, a one-time All-Star and three-time World Series champion, appeared in 73 games last season with the Tampa Bay Rays. He started five games as an opener and notched 25 saves out of the bullpen with a 4.14 ERA and K/9 rate of 10.

Romo knows Toronto's new manager, Charlie Montoyo, from their time together in the Rays organization over the last two seasons.
