Bill Haas will not compete in the Genesis Open this weekend after a harrowing car crash

Haas was in Los Angeles ahead of the Genesis Open and was a passenger in the Ferrari that hit a BMW in a crash on Tuesday night at 6.31pm local time.

The crash took place in the Pacific Palisades neighbourhood on the western outskirts of Los Angeles and the Ferrari driver was pronounced dead at the scene.

Haas, 35, was taken to hospital with serious injuries along with the driver of the BMW, a 50-year-old woman.

However, LAPD detective Jeff Fischer described Haas as “doing okay” in the aftermath of the crash and the golfer’s father Jay told the Golf Channel that his son had been “very fortunate”.

Actor Luke Wilson was also involved but was apparently unhurt

Haas reportedly has suffered no broken bones but is dealing with pain and swelling in his leg that has ruled him out of competing this weekend at the Genesis Open.

Actor Luke Wilson was involved in the crash, although Fischer said he had suffered no serious injuries either.

“I can confirm Luke Wilson was driving the vehicle, the Toyota FJ that was travelling northbound,” Fischer said.

“His vehicle just basically got clipped by the Ferrari.

"Mr Bill Haas was the passenger in the Ferrari. Apparently, from what I was told, he's doing OK too."
