Even though Chicago Cubs left-hander Jon Lester conquered his longstanding case of the yips earlier this year, picking Tommy Pham off first base after famously avoiding that blasted throw, Ryan Zimmerman still decided to test him Wednesday in Game 4 of the National League Division Series.
After drawing a one-out walk in the eighth, with his Washington Nationals clinging to a 1-0 lead, Zimmerman took a very generous lead-off at first base, likely presuming that the throw over was still anathema to Lester. He was proven wrong, though, with Lester picking him off for the second out of the inning (initially ruled safe, Zimmerman was called out following a review).
